A letter from global bestselling author Bonnie Garmus on Peck & Peck

Read a letter by Bonnie Garmus about her latest novel Peck & Peck.

Dear reader,
I’m thrilled to introduce you to my new book Peck & Peck, which will be released
October 13th.
Peck & Peck is set in the late 1970s / early 1980s, when typewriters ruled, carriage
returns were marked with “dings,” and everyone kept a bottle of White-Out on their desk
to eradicate the biggest corporate problem of those times: typos.
But Peck & Peck, the famously secretive and dysfunctional poetry quarterly located in
lower Manhattan, has a lot more than typos to fix. Because then - just like now - the arts
were under attack. And it has fallen to Peck & Peck - or more specifically their lowliest
employee, Batter Gray - to fight back.
I loved writing this book. It celebrates imagination, typography, bird eggs, history,
humanity, originality, poetry, topiary, editors, entry level jobs, (you know - the good old
days?), while addressing the threats from technologies insisting their “new and
improved” (which is neither), is here to stay. It also features a small dog, rejection,
stupid corporate rules, a tyrannical boss, enemy twins, love at first sight - and as this
cover so clearly demonstrates - a lot of paper.
Hate Gen AI? Get ready for some poetic justice.
Thank you for your support!
